BurtonLucifer's recipe for the meaning of life

To find the meaning of life you must find the meaning of life. Which means you have to look. The poor man's solution is to believe the quest ended and no further questing is necessary. Or allowed. And everyone believing otherwise is wrong and all contrary facts must be ignored or vilified and the unbelievers must be slaughtered...

As you may be able to discern, I am not a fan of the poor man's solution. It's based on beliefs that aren't true and made illegal to challenge.

To find the truth about the meaning of life you must use the truth. So what is truth? There are two forms of truth, objective truth and subjective truth. The goal is to align subjective truth with objective truth. So you need to understand stuff. Like, really understand at least the important concepts if not the details. 

So how does one understand stuff? I'm a bit ambivalent about this. Science. Learn how science works. Study science. Become a scientist. Follow science and notable figures in the scientific community. Trust leading experts in the scientific fields when thousands of them are all saying the same bloody thing.

So yeah, science. That is how one understands external truth. These truths are only mutable within the boundaries of objective truth.

So what does one do for subjective truth? Ok, in this I'm mostly ambivalent. It really doesn't matter. And it really really doesn't matter if you align your subjective truth with objective truth.

So yes, I'm saying that in the quest for the meaning of life it is perfectly viable to believe in things that are false in order to find truth. It's how us humans have been doing it since we attained the ability to do so.

The recommendation for finding subjective truth is to use the Golden Rule as the basis for behaviours and to systematically control or eliminate everything within yourself that tempts you to behave in any way contrary to the Golden Rule.

The only caveat; you cannot believe things about you that are false. You must learn to be objective with yourself in order to prevent you from however inadvertently lying to yourself. Understanding how objective truth is attained will enable you to discern subjective truth to the greatest degree.

And once you have found truth, then you can get on with your quest for the meaning of life.

The Christianity Equation

Back in mid 1999 I experienced Gnosis. Enlightenment. At the end of a bong. I wasn’t looking for it. I wasn’t interested.
